Inclusive Design at Salford
Inclusivity is something we have to think about in our building design because we want to create a physical environment that can be used by everyone without the need for much individual customisation.
Inclusive design is important for all equality groups, though it can be particularly important for disabled students, staff and visitors.
A vital part of our approach to inclusivity in building design is consultation or engagement. We want to ensure that people who use our buildings have the opportunity to contribute their ideas on how the designs can be as barrier-free as possible. The purpose of this section is to support that process of engagement by providing access to the designs as they become available.
We start with the refurbishment of the Chapman Building, which is appropriate since it marks the start of our work to re-shape our campus through Estates & Property Services Master Plan.
