Disabled Staff Experience Project 2010
Further research is being commissioned to look at why the experience of working at the University for disabled employees shows high levels of discrimination and bullying and harassment.
The results of our first Staff Experience Survey in October 2008 showed that, for too many disabled colleagues, the experience of working at Salford was very different from other employees.
First we need to understand the reasons behind these outcomes and to find out what they mean in terms of people’s actual experiences. Second, we want to create a safe space for disabled staff to talk about the kind of changes they think could help the University create a working environment in which all are treated with respect and dignity. The University has chosen GEM, an independent consultancy, to carry out this research. They have an excellent track record in helping public sector organisations in tackling equality issues.
