Staff Networks

The direct engagement of students and staff in shaping and improving the University’s policy and practice on equality and diversity is something that we, at Salford, proactively encourage.

Whilst we have review procedures and quality assurance mechanisms, the self-activity of students and staff on equality issues is the essential guarantee we need to ensure that our policies and procedures are effectively responding to people’s different needs, promoting respect for diversity, and tackling instances of discrimination when they come to light.

In most instances we encourage that self-activity through annual grants – either directly in the case of staff networks or indirectly, through the Students’ Union, for student societies. We also provide support in kind, such as publicity through these web pages, and regular training and support for our staff networks.

(Where possible, we have relied on the societies and networks themselves to provide information on their contact details and the range of their activities.)
